Here we go again. Another re-make is making it’s way to the small screen. This time it’s the Knight Industries Two Thousand. Thats right they are making another Knight Rider and have just released the pictures of KITT.
Let me start with a little bit of history. Knight Rider first made it’s Debut in 1982 and ran till 1986. The car used was a 1982 Pontiac Trans Am and starred David Haselhoff as Michael Knight.

Then the first of two made for TV movies came along. First one was in 1991 called Knight Rider 2000. It stared David Haselhoff, but a new KITT. The car used was a Pontiac Banshee IV prototype. This movie was suppose to end up being a pilot for a new Knight Rider series, but it just did not take.

Then in 1994, came along the other made for TV movie, Knight Rider 2010. This show was very loosely based on the original TV series. Actually it had absolutely nothing to do with the original TV series at all, except the name of the show and the one man can make a difference concept. They used a custom Ford Mustang built on a mid-90’s Thunderbird frame as the car. I can not seem to find a picture of this car used anywhere. If anyone has a pic of the car used in this movie let me know please so I can post it here.
In 1997 another Knight Rider was born. This time Team Knight Rider. Set sometime in the future this show used a whole fleet of intelligent vehicles. There was Attack Beast which was a Ford F-150, Dante a Ford Expedition, Domino a Ford Mustang Convertible and Kat and Plato which were two customized motorcycles. This show was very closely based on the original series and had the creator of the original series, Glen A. Larson, on hand as executive producer. The main difference was instead of one man making a difference it was a Team. This show however only lasted one season and was pulled.

Now lets move ahead 11 years to 2008. Glen A. Larson is involved in the new Knight Rider made for TV movie, with a air date of February 17, 2008. I have not yet come across any type of trailers as of yet but a lot of pictures, along with this article, written by Kristin Sample over at tvsquad.com. The one thing that is not changing with this new TV movie over the last two, is the use of a Ford product. This time it is a Ford Mustang Shelby GT500KR.

I am not to sure if I like the idea so much of using this car for KITT. Don’t get me wrong I love mustangs and always have, it is my favorite car. And it is not the first time they are using Ford as a main car. But it just does not feel like KITT to me. However I will definetly give the movie a shot. I am not going to keep myself from seeing it cause its not a Trans Am of some sort. If it does end up being good, maybe it will spawn a new TV series to watch for a few years also.
